CookiePro Launches the Industry’s First CCPA Opt-Out Solution

The CookiePro CCPA Opt-Out Notice Solution enables website owners, publishers and advertisers to customize and embed a “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link on their websites to comply with requirements set by the CCPA and the IAB CCPA Compliance Framework.   

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), consumers have the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. This requires organizations to:   

  • Add a “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” Notice to websites
  • Develop an efficient way to process and respond to consumer requests to exercise their new rights to opt-out  
  • Maintain detailed, ongoing records for compliance  

Today, we’re excited to share the launch of our CCPA Opt-Out Solution to comply with the requirements of the CCPA, which goes into effect on January 1, 2020.

Opt-Out Solution Features  

Available now, the CookiePro Opt-Out solution is the first tool in the industry that enables organizations to create an opt-out mechanism by adding a “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link to websites. The tool also allows publishers and advertisers to comply with the IAB CCPA Compliance Framework by creating a signal to downstream framework participants and blocking personalized ads when a user clicks the signal to opt-out. 

The solution is backed by powerful technology and is focused on making compliance simple to those affected by the CCPA. There are three main steps in the CCPA opt out tool: 

  1. Customize the Do Not Sell link/button to match brand colors 
  2. Choose who can see the Do Not Sell link based on location and selecting the behavior after opt-out  
  3. Copy and embed the code on the website 

Supports the IAB CCPA Compliance Framework  

The solution launch comes near the same time as the IAB’s CCPA Compliance Framework announcement. The newly released IAB CCPA Compliance Framework is intended to be used by publishers or advertisers and downstream framework participants that engage or support real-time-bidding (RTB) transactions in the digital advertising industry. The requirements set by the IAB US include explaining what happens to collected data, adding a “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link on websites and communicating to framework participants when a user opts out of sale.   

As an IAB registered Consent Management Provider, CookiePro helps publishers and advertisers legally collect consent and deliver compliant ads. By integrating the IAB CCPA Compliance Framework into CookiePro, the tool blocks or allows targeted ads from ad vendors based on website visitors’ consent preferences. Records of consent can then be stored in CookiePro to demonstrate accountability.
